Siddipet: While many schools across the State are being spruced up for beginning of the classes from February 1 by cleaning and sanitising, the elected representatives have installed grills to the entire school veranda wall of Zilla Parishad High School Ghanpuram in Thoguta Mandal to protect the students from possible monkey attacks.
Monkey menace is not new in most of the villages in Telangana, but here in Ghanpuram the monkeys had made the school veranda into their night shelter.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Sarpanch Kumbala Venkatamma has said that the school sweepers were finding it difficult to clean the veranda every morning since monkeys were defecating all over the place during the night. She has further said that the school children were even staying away from attending the classes fearing attack.
As parents led by school committee chairman Alimani Butchiraju have brought the issue to her notice, Venkatamma has said that they took up the issue to the notice of Zilla Parishad Chairperson Indrasena Reddy, who granted Rs one lakh immediately. Meanwhile, Sarpanch Venkatamma has also given Rs one lakh grant. As the government announced the beginning of the school from February 1, the Sarpanch has installed the grills at the school on Monday.
Headmaster Venkateshwar Reddy, teachers and students have thanked the ZPTC member and the sarpanch for their quick response. Since the population of monkeys was increasing in the area, the students are apprehensive of coming out from their classrooms. The High School is having a healthy strength of 154 students. Its not just the students, but everyone in the village were affected with the monkey menace.
Meanwhile, all the schools across Siddipet district are being cleaned up and sanitised as the government is gearing up for beginning of the classes from February 1. The elected representatives and education department officials were working together to inaugurate the schools.
