Hyderabad: Allegedly upset after his mother scolded him for not staying at home and spending long hours with his friends outside, an engineering student died, allegedly by suicide, at Nandigama in Shadnagar on the city outskirts on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as J Uday (21), a final-year engineering student from a private college and a resident of Narsappaguda in Nandigama.
According to the police, Uday, who was staying in a hostel, had come home for Sankranti festival and was going out with friends instead of staying at home and spending time with his family. His parents, who warned him a few times, scolded him on Sunday too after which he left the house on his bicycle and did not return.
Relatives, unable to find him, lodged a complaint with the Nandigama police on Monday. While a search was on, on Tuesday, Uday’s bicycle and belongings were found near a lake in Nandigama and soon after, his body too was found floating on the water. The Nandigama police booked a case and took up an investigation.
