Scolded by mom, minor boy ends life in Hyderabad

The boy identified as Rahul (16), was an intermediate first year student of a private college in Sanathnagar.

Hyderabad: Upset over his mother scolding him for allegedly not studying, a minor boy died by suicide in his house at Sanathnagar on Monday.

The boy was an intermediate first year student of a private college in Sanathnagar.


According to the police, the boy’s mother scolded him for going out with friends often and not focusing on studies and performing poor in recent exams. Upset over it, he went into his room and after locking it from inside, committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan with a saree, in the early hours.

His family members knocked on the door, but as there was no response from inside, they grew suspicious and forcibly opened the door and found him hanging, police said.

They tried to shift him to the hospital, but he had died by then.

Based on a complaint from the boy’s father, the Sanathnagar police booked a case and took up investigation.

The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
