Hyderabad: To meet the medical oxygen requirements of Telangana during the second wave of the pandemic, the South Central Railways (SCR) has operated a total of 100 Oxygen Express trains, bringing in 4,055.97 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO). They also transported 3,628.32 MT LMO to Andhra Pradesh.

In order to meet the medical oxygen requirement of the States effectively, the Oxygen Express trains have been operated from both the eastern and western parts of the nation — mainly Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. The LMO was delivered at Sanath Nagar Goods Complex in Telangana.

Ensuring that the oxygen requirements of the State are met at the fastest possible time frame and with minimum en route detentions, the Railways have been operating these trains along the Green Corridors and multi-disciplinary teams have also been formed to ensure that the Oxygen trains reach the least possible time.

Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR appreciated the efforts of the officers and staff who have planned and executed a “green corridor” system for the speedy delivery of medical oxygen to the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He said that these Oxygen Express services are being operated with the highest priority to ensure that medical oxygen to the States reaches the fastest possible time schedules.
