SCR, Dream Academy win titles in LVR Basketball Championship

Hyderabad: South Central Railway and Dream Basketball Academy emerged champions in men’s and women’s sections, respectively, of the inaugural L Venkatram Reddy (LVR) Memorial Basketball Championship at Victory Playground here on Friday.
In the men’s final, SCR defeated Nizam Basketball Academy 66-49 after leading 24-20 at the break.
For the winners, Santosh (17) and Ajith (15) were the lead performers, while for the losers, Balaji (20) was brilliant with good support from Kaushik (9).
In the women’s final, Dream Academy recorded a 61-42 win against Nizam Basketball Academy after leading 40-19 at half-time.
Nethra (26) and Medha (20) were outstanding for the winners, while Amita (16) and Jahnavi (9) put up a good show for the losers.
R Sridhar Reddy, president of Telangana Basketball Association, gave away the prizes.
The results:
Men’s finals: South Central Railway 66 (Santosh 17, Ajith 15) bt Nizam Basketball Academy 49 (Balaji 20).
Women’s finals: Dream Basketball Academy 61 (Nethra 26, Medha 20) beat Nizam Basketball Academy 42 (Amita 16).
