Hyderabad: Ahead of Diwali festival, the South Central Railway (SCR) has issued a travel advisory cautioning rail passengers against carrying firecrackers, explosives, or any inflammable materials in trains or on railway premises.

SCR officials stated that carrying such items poses a serious safety hazard to passengers and railway property.

Passengers found carrying inflammable or explosive substances may face penalties under Sections 164 and 165 of the Railway Act, 1989, which prescribe imprisonment of up to three years, a fine of Rs 1,000 or both, the advisory said.

Meanwhile, to ensure public safety, SCR has intensified checks across trains and stations. Passengers have been urged to report any suspicious or dangerous materials immediately to railway staff or contact the Security Helpline at 139.

The railway authorities requested citizens’ cooperation to ensure safe and hassle-free travel during the festive season.
