Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has operated 120 special trains in the past week, carrying around four lakh additional passengers amid the Dasara festive rush.
The zone has announced more than 700 special trains to meet the increased travel demand during Dasara, Diwali and Chhath Puja.
The special trains connect major destinations across the country, including Prayagraj, Danapur, Nizamuddin, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada and Narasapur.
SCR has also strengthened security and crowd management at busy stations by deploying additional Railway Protection Force personnel and railway officials.
To ease passenger movement, additional ticket counters have been opened at Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Kacheguda, Lingampalli and Charlapalli stations. Extra automatic ticket vending machines have also been installed, while passengers are being encouraged to use the UTS mobile app and QR codes to purchase general tickets without waiting in queues.
Other measures include regulated queues for general compartments, separate entry and exit routes, additional enquiry counters, frequent announcements about platforms and coach positions, and improved cleanliness and drinking water facilities.
Also, dedicated women staff have been deployed at Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda stations to assist female passengers during the festive season.
