Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has launched a new initiative to encourage passengers to purchase unreserved tickets through the UTS mobile app, especially in view of the upcoming festive rush.
To promote the facility, SCR staff deployed at high-footfall areas like concourses, entry and exit gates, and outside ticket counters, will wear retro-reflective jackets with ‘QR’ code stickers on the back. Passengers can scan these codes using the UTS app or ‘Rail One’ app to directly purchase tickets. The staff will also guide users on the app’s features and benefits.
This initiative has been rolled out across major stations, including Secunderabad, Kacheguda, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal, Tirupati, and Nanded, covering all six divisions of the zone.
Now, unreserved journey or platform tickets can be booked from any location at least five meters away from the station premises or railway track, allowing users to even book tickets from home.
The UTS app, available in multiple languages, offers paperless and cashless ticketing, supporting payments via R-Wallet, Paytm, UPI, and internet banking. Passengers also receive a 3 per cent bonus on recharges made through R-Wallet.
