Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has swung into action to restore normal train operations after incessant rains caused breaches on tracks between Bhiknur–Tadmadla in the Medchal–Nizamabad section and Akanapet–Medak section.

To ensure passenger safety, train services were immediately streamlined with cancellations, diversions, rescheduling, and partial cancellations.

SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava reviewed the situation from the Disaster Management and Response Control (DMRC) Room at Rail Nilayam on Wednesday. Senior officers were stationed in the control room to monitor the ground situation in coordination with the Hyderabad Division.

On the ground, Divisional Railway Manager Santosh Kumar Varma and his team inspected the damaged sections by Tower Car. To speed up track restoration, two Monsoon Special trains carrying sandbags, boulders, girders, cribs, pipes, and sleepers were dispatched from Purna and Kazipet on Wednesday afternoon. Engineering teams have begun urgent works to restore services on a war footing.

Several trains were cancelled, partially cancelled, diverted, or rescheduled. Pantry car managers were instructed to ensure timely food and water supply for diverted trains, while alternative arrangements through catering stalls and local food vendors were made for other trains.

SCR assured that track restoration works are being carried out on top priority and services will be normalised at the earliest possible time.

To assist passengers, helpline numbers have been set up at major stations:
Nizamabad: 040-27783606 / 9703296714
