Hyderabad: In a move aimed at reducing uncertainty for passengers, especially those travelling from remote areas to catch long-distance trains, Indian Railways has revised the timeline for preparation of reservation charts.
The new system will be implemented across the South Central Railway (SCR). Under the revised norms, for trains scheduled to depart between 5.01 am and 2.00 pm, the first reservation chart will be prepared by 8.00 pm on the previous day.
Similarly, for trains departing between 2.01 pm and 11.59 pm, as well as those leaving between midnight (12 am) and 5.00 am, the first chart will be prepared at least 10 hours in advance of the scheduled departure time at the charting station.
Railway officials said the decision is aimed to inform passengers well in advance about their reservation status, helping them plan their journeys better and reducing last-minute anxiety.
The streamlined charting process is set to improve passenger convenience and overall travel experience on SCR trains.
