Hyderabad: The relentless efforts of the South Central Railway (SCR) officials to attract freight business towards Railways combined with continuous monitoring of the movement of freight trains has helped in increasing freight loading by the zone in January 2022 as well. Freight loading in the last month increased by 12 per cent when compared to the same period last year.

SCR has recorded an overall loading of 10.9 million tonnes during the month of January 2022, whereas the same last year was 9.7 million tonnes.

The regular monitoring of the supply of wagons by the railway officials to support the movement of food grains by Food Corporation of India and other government institutions has helped in the transportation of food grains on a large scale. Besides, coal, cement, fertilizers, containers, and other goods have also witnessed higher volumes of freight loading when compared with the same period last year.

Sanjeev Kishore, General Manager, SCR, expressed his happiness on the zone registering the best freight loading figures continuously in every month of this financial year. He complimented the efforts put in by operating and commercial branches at both zonal and divisional levels and instructed the officials to maintain the same momentum for the rest of the financial year to maximize the freight loading of the zone.
