Hyderabad: AICC Telangana incharge Manickam Tagore said the credit to make a Dalit as Chief Minister of a State and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha goes to Congress party in the country.

In Telangana too, the party had made Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka as the CLP leader, said Manickam Tagore while addressing at the Congress party’s SC wing meeting at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday.

He found fault with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for failing to fulfill the promises made to the people. “TRS party considers SCs and STs as its vote bank and has failed utterly in ensuring their welfare,” said Manickam Tagore.

There are 17 Ministers in the State Cabinet and only one Dailt was made a Minister. While, other communities Ministers were given key portfolios, the Dalit community Minister was given SC Welfare portfolio, he charged.

“Congress is the only party in the country, which strives for the welfare and development of Dalits,” said Manickam Tagore.
Meanwhile, TPCC president A Revanth Reddy condemned the police lathi charge on students on Saturday.

The TPCC president paid tributes to Telangana martyr Srikanth Chary’s statue at LB Nagar on Sunday. He said complaints would be lodged against officials with SC and ST Commissions for lathi charge on students.

“Congress party always promotes youth in politics and the party’s decision to field NSUI State president Balmoori Venkat in Huzurabad by-poll stands a testimony to this fact,” he said.
