In a swift breakthrough, Narsapur police solved a robbery case within 24 hours after a woman was attacked and robbed of her gold earrings on August 13. Following a complaint, police arrested the accused and recovered the stolen items.
Medak: Narsapur police have solved a sensational robbery case in which a woman was attacked and robbed of one tola gold earrings on August 13, Wednesday. The accused, Gajjala Bikshapathi (27), a habitual offender, committed the crime just two days after being released from Sangareddy jail.
Bikshapathi, a native of Madulvai in Havelighanpur mandal and resident of Gummadidala, has a record of multiple theft cases. DSP Toopran, Javvaji Narendar, said the accused had been in jail until August 11 for earlier offences.
On Wednesday, while travelling on an RTC bus after meeting his lawyer in Medak, Bikshapathi befriended the 38-year-old victim by offering her a drink. He then took her to a secluded spot in the Narsapur forest area. After consuming the drink, he attacked her and snatched her earrings.
The victim lodged a complaint at Narsapur police station, and Inspector Jan Reddy’s team cracked the case within 24 hours. The accused was arrested on Thursday and the stolen ornaments were recovered. He has since been remanded in judicial custody.
