Hyderabad: A secret meeting of a few Congress MLAs at a farm house owned by one of them on the city outskirts on Friday night has triggered widespread speculation over the party affairs, especially the dissent that is brewing among a section of leaders.

The meeting was arranged to share and exchange their views on the attitude of a Cabinet Minister towards them. It lasted for nearly two hours.

It is learnt that the MLAs, mostly from erstwhile Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Warangal had gathered to discuss the negligence of a cabinet Minister in considering their pleas, particularly the delay in executing a few development works in their constituencies.

Interestingly, the MLAs had decided to conduct the meeting a few days back. Among them, two MLAs had even met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy two days back.

Of late, there have been complaints from leaders within the party over the delay in releasing funds and clearing pending bills. More so, there have been issues relating to commission being demanded from Congress leaders also to clear the pending bills.

While, there are reports that 10 MLAs had gathered for the meeting, a few say it was seven to eight MLAs. Already, images of the MLAs, who attended the meeting, are doing rounds in different social media platforms.

The entire episode has triggered unrest in the party. There is a buzz in a section of leaders in Gandhi Bhavan over the agenda of the meeting, particularly ahead of local bodies’ elections. Many fear about the consequences of the meeting.
