Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment Board officials these days are busy identifying suitable locations to shift the centre median hoardings that are obstructing two elevated corridors – Paradise Circle to Dairy Farm Road (near Suchitra) and Gymkhana Grounds to Shamirpet ORR limits – in Cantonment.

The decision to shift hoardings was taken in the recent SCB board meeting after the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) highlighted the need to remove or relocate these hoardings to facilitate the smooth progress of the corridor works.

The SCB officials stated that necessary action would be taken in coordination with the departments concerned to ensure that the hoardings do not obstruct the construction activities.

The hoardings identified include the centre of the road behind Begumpet Airport runway (near Anna Nagar), the centre of the road at Paradise X Roads (traffic towards Bowenpally), Paradise near Skoda Showroom and Mazda Motors, Brigadier Syed Road, near Le Palace Garden, and from near Babu Jagjivan Ram statue to MES pump house road.

Apart from these hoardings, the HMDA, which is the intending agency of the proposed two elevated corridors, also made a plea to the Cantonment Board to shift or relocate more unipole advertisement structures along the proposed work of construction of the elevated corridor.

A senior SCB engineering wing official stated that due to the removal of hoardings at five different areas, they are losing Rs 7,99,999 per structure (approximately Rs 39.99 lakh).

Meanwhile, the SCB authorities will cancel the permission for the installation of poles from the date of removal if no suitable alternate site is found.
