Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment Congress MLA N Sri Ganesh on Wednesday boycotted a general board meeting of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB), demanding the Central government conduct SCB elections.

He boycotted the meeting soon after the oath-taking ceremony of SCB civilian nominated member (BJP) Bhanuka Narmada, held for extending a second term which started on February 15. He cited the Central government extending the nominated member’s tenure instead of conducting Cantonment Board elections as the reason.

The MLA gave a representation to the President of Cantonment Board, Brigadier S Rajeev, and urged him to forward it to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to take an immediate decision and ensure SCB elections are conducted.

He spoke to the media and said that the Central government was delaying Cantonment Board elections for the past five years and prolonging the SCB merger by nominating a Cantonment civilian member.
