Hyderabad: The annual Jagannath Rath Yatra organised by Shree Jagannath Swamy Ramgopal Trust has been cancelled this year owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The Trust announced that they want to help authorities control the virus spread, by not conducting the Yatra this year. It was originally scheduled on July 12.
The Trust has been conducting the Yatra from Sri Jagannath Swamy Temple at General Bazaar, Secunderabad, for over 130 years now and this is the second time that it has been cancelled.
“Due to the current situation, the Rath Yatra and the Darshan that is attended by thousands of devotees usually, has been cancelled for the public. We request devotees to seek blessings of the Lord from their own residences and help authorities restrict the spread of the virus,” says Purshottam Malani, a Founder-Family Trustee.
