Secunderabad Stallions defeat Birla Blazers 78-54 in Youth League
Karthik and Mulla Vasist starred as Secunderabad Stallions defeated Birla Blazers 78-54 in the Sub-Junior & Youth League. Karthik dominated the scoring, while Rishon Reuben fought a lone battle for Birla Blazers with an impressive individual performance
Hyderabad: Secunderabad Stallions breezed past Birla Blazers 78-54 after leading comfortably 35-26 at half-time in the Sub-Junior & Youth League for boys and girls.
Manvith and Karthik combined well for Secunderabad Stallions. However, it was Karthik who proved unstoppable as he scored 12 of the team’s 21 points in the first quarter to help Secunderabad Stallions take a 21-4 lead. In the second quarter, with the team’s second five on the court, Mulla Vasist penetrated the defence to score eight points. Rishon Reuben of Birla Blazers stole the show in the second quarter as he scored 20 of the team’s 22 points to reduce the deficit to 26-35 in favour of Secunderabad Stallions at half-time.
After the change of ends, with both teams fielding their strongest line-ups, they traded baskets. Secunderabad Stallions continued to score well as Vasist provided good support to Karthik. However, Rishon waged a lone battle as he did not receive much support from his teammates. Secunderabad Stallions led 59-45 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Bhavesh scored five consecutive points, but Secunderabad Stallions maintained the same tempo. Karthik and Vasist combined for 19 points as Secunderabad Stallions restricted Birla Blazers to just nine points to register a comfortable 78-54 victory.
