Hyderabad: Following the outrage over Telangana women washing the feet of Miss World contestants ahead of their visit to Ramappa temple, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya found fault with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for politicizing the issue.

It was a general practice for people to wash their feet before entering a temple. There were 33 Miss World contestants and if they had washed their feet simultaneously, the premises would turn slushy. To avoid the situation, they were provided plates to wash their feet, the Minister defended in a statement here on Thursday.

“One youngster from the event management company poured water on the feet of a contestant and later offered towel to clean. But the entire episode is being projected wrongly with ulterior motive,” Seethakka said.

The PRRD Minister slammed the BRS for trying to politicize minor issues and blow them out of proportion.
