Hyderabad: A story of patriotism and selfless devotion by an octogenarian during the 1962 Sino-Indian War touched the hearts of doctors, nurses, and staff alike.

Seetharavamma, an 84-year-old patient currently undergoing treatment in the ICU under the care of Dr. Chandana Reddy at STAR Hospitals, recently shared a memory from the 1962 Sino-Indian War that serves as a timeless reminder of national unity and personal sacrifice.

During the height of the 1962 conflict, when the Indian government made a nationwide appeal for citizens to contribute to the National Defence Fund, countless families stepped forward to support the armed forces.

Among them was Seetharavamma’s family. She recounted how her cherished wedding ring was willingly parted with and donated to the national cause without hesitation.

“In the ICU, we witness strength and resilience every single day, but hearing Seetharavamma recount that defining moment from 1962 moved our entire medical team to tears. To part with something as sentimental as a wedding ring for the sake of the country reflects a spirit of duty and love for the motherland that transcends generations. It is an absolute privilege to care for someone whose life embodies such grace and patriotism,” said Dr. Chandana Reddy.

While the clinical team at STAR Hospitals continues to provide comprehensive care for Seetharavamma’s recovery, her story has sparked profound inspiration across the hospital corridors.
