Self-Help Group women set to operate petrol bunk in Sangareddy
Since there was no petrol bunk on the Sangareddy bypass road, the district administration had allotted 8 guntas of land near the old DRDA office. APM of Zilla Mahila Samakhya Sridevi said the petrol bunk would provide employment to 30 SHG women who would work in three shifts to run the bunk round the clock
Sangareddy: In a unique move, the Sangareddy district headquarters will have a 100 per cent women-run petrol bunk which will be set up by the Zilla Mahila Samakhya (ZMS) in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL).
Since there was no petrol bunk on the Sangareddy bypass road, the district administration had allotted 8 guntas of land near the old DRDA office. APM of Zilla Mahila Samakhya Sridevi said the petrol bunk would provide employment to 30 SHG women who would work in three shifts to run the bunk round the clock. She further said their entry into the business would set a new trend in creating employment opportunities for SHG women in the State.
While the IOCL had agreed to spend Rs 1.99 crore on the entire project, Sridevi said the ZMS would have to bear the operational cost of the unit. Since the traffic movement had increased in recent years considerably on the bypass road, she said the location would help them to run the petrol bunk in profits.
Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha will lay the foundation for the petrol bunk in a week. Except for the Prison department, which was operating three petrol bunks in the district, all the petrol bunks were being operated by private persons.
The entry of SHG women into the business will open gates for new opportunities for SHG women, officials felt.
