Hyderabad: A seminar on drug menace and prevention was held for the personnel of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate on Thursday. Officials from the ranks of the Station House Officer to the Deputy Commissioners of Police participated.
Speaking at the session, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said so far this year, 86 drug cases were booked and 31 drug peddlers were detained under the Preventive Detention Act. He instructed the Station House Officers to utilise the NDPS Act provisions, conduct surprise checks and keep a close watch on drug consumers and peddlers.
In his presentation on the NDPS Act, Superintendent DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) A Rangadham explained about the investigation procedures, search and seizure, technical aspects, powers and responsibilities of investigation officers and important judgments.
