Hyderabad: In a significant development ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election, senior Congress leader Ali Masqati and former TDP leader Shakeela Reddy joined the BRS on Tuesday in the presence of party working president KT Rama Rao at his Nandinagar residence.
Rama Rao, who formally welcomed both leaders into the BRS by draping the party’s pink scarves, expressed confidence that their induction would further strengthen the party. He said the joining of experienced and young leaders alike reflected the growing public confidence in the BRS and its vision for Telangana’s future.
Masqati, who has a long association with the Old City electorate, said he joined the BRS to work under the visionary and secular leadership of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He said the present Congress government had completely failed minorities. “KCR is a genuine secular leader who delivered inclusive growth and ensured dignity for every community,” he said.
Shakeela Reddy, who resigned from the Telugu Desam Party before joining the BRS, said Telangana flourished under Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule but its progress had slowed under the Congress regime.
Youth leader Rohit Sharma also joined the BRS on the occasion, pledging to contribute to the party’s development agenda.
