Hyderabad: The State Government has already set up 1,033 procurement centres for the 2021-22 Vanakalam season and measures were being taken to establish more centres in all the districts for the convenience of farmers.
Civil Supplies Minister G Kamalakar held a meeting with Civil Supplies Corporation officials here on Monday on procurement centres. During the meeting, the Minister discussed the arrangements being made by the department for paddy procurement.
He directed the officials to make elaborate arrangements in ensuring the provision of gunny bags, transportation and tarpaulins to save the stocks in case of any unseasonal rains.
The government has already set up 1,033 procurement centres and instructions have been issued to the District Collectors to set up centres in areas where crop harvest was completed, the Minister said.
Assuring the farmers that were sufficient gunny bags, he appealed to them not to fall prey for false information on paddy procurement. All arrangements were in place for transporting the stocks immediately after completion of procurement, he said.
“All measures were being taken to ensure farmers, do not face any inconvenience regarding paddy procurement,” Kamalakar said.
The Minister also said focus was being laid on strengthening the IT wing of Civil Supplies department to regularly monitor the departmental activities.
