Mahabubabad: At least seven children and a woman were injured in a honey bee attack at Palithya thanda in Gudur mandal in the district on Monday.
The injured were identified as Sravanthi (9), Anjali (7), Bhavana (4), Ganesh (3), Ramya (6), Manasa (9) and Veeramma (55). The children were playing in front of their houses after their parents left for work. Veeramma was looking after them.
One of them accidentally threw a stone at a beehive that led to the swarm of bees attacking the woman and the children. Hearing the children’s screams for help, locals rushed to them and shifted them to Gudur Primary Health Centre (PHC) initially. Later, they were shifted to Mahabubabad district hospital for better treatment.
Sources said the children’s lives would have been in danger if there was any delay in shifting them to hospital. Doctors at the hospital said there was no threat to their health condition now.
