Seven die of sunstroke in ten days in Karimnagar
The labourers, who are working in soaring heat without taking precautions, are losing their lives. So far, seven persons have died of sunstroke within a span of ten days in the erstwhile Karimnagar district
Karimnagar: Soaring heat weather coupled with hot winds is parlaysing normal life across the State during the last few days. People are scared to venture out after 9 am. If they come out, people are taking precautions to protect themselves from the heat.
However, the labourers, who are working in soaring heat without taking precautions, are losing their lives. So far, seven persons have died of sunstroke within a span of ten days in the erstwhile Karimnagar district. Surprisingly, four people lost their lives on Friday alone.
A farm labourer, Reddy Ramachandaram (26) of Polampalli of Thimmapur mandal, Gollapalli Jagan Goud (38) of Jagtial town, Kummarikunta Rajaiah (67) of Narsimhulapalli of Dharmaram mandal and a jeep driver, Ollala Venkateshwarlu of Jammikunta were died of sunstroke on Friday. An autorickshaw driver from Hanumajipet of Vemulawada mandal, Shankaraiah (46), lost his life on April 17. Udige Ilamma (59) died on April 21. A native of Gollapalli of Shankarapatnam mandal, Ilamma used to work as a farm labourer.
Patha Bhumaiah (55) of Vallampatla of Illanthakunta Mandal, breathed his last on April 22. Bhumaiah used to purchase tamarind seeds by touring villages. He was affected by sunstroke while touring in rural areas. Though the medical and health department officials are issuing cautions asking the people not to venture out between 12 noon to 4 pm, some of the people, especially labourers, are least bothered about the cautions.
