Warangal Urban: In a joint operation, the Task Force police and Parkal police arrested a seven-member gang of ganja smugglers, and seized 64 kg of cannabis worth Rs 6.40 lakh here on Sunday. The arrested have been identified as Bochu Bhanuchander (main accused), a resident of Gopalpuram in Hanamkonda, Vasula Ratnakar of Peddamvalli village in Regonda mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, Gurrala Suman Reddy of Regonda village, Ukanti Veera Reddy of Thirumalagiri village of Regonda mandal, Guguloth Heeru of Kazipet in Warangal Urban district, Nakinala Naresh of Peddampally village of Regonda mandal and Mothapothula Ramesh Goud of Regonda village of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
In a press release, Warangal police commissioner Tarun Joshi said Bhanuchandar was sent to jail for committing the crime and a rowdy sheet was also opened against him in the past. “Bhanuchandar, who went to jail several times, got acquainted with Suman Reddy in jail. Both of them wanted to earn easy money by selling ganja and formed a gang with their friends,” he said, adding that they purchased the ganja in Visakhapatnam district at a lower price. The police team nabbed the gang near Parkal. The police also seized an auto-trolley, a motorcycle and seven cell phones from the accused.
