Yadadri-Bhongir: Following instructions from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, seven village committees were set up for the overall development of Vasalamarri village in Yadadri-Bhongir district on Friday.
District Collector Pamela Satpathy attended the gram sabha of Vasalamarri for the purpose of setting up village committees meant for comprehensive development of the village. The committees set up during the gram sabhas include the main village development committee, agriculture committee, sanitation and drinking water committees, health committee, Shrama Dhanam committee, infrastructure committee and market committee. The main committee was set up with 10 members and the remaining committees with five members.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector said people should cooperate for the development of the village as per the wishes of the Chief Minister. “People should voluntarily participate in shrama dhanam to be held in the next two to three months in the village. Residents of Vasalamarri are lucky since the Chief Minister has adopted their village out of 421 gram panchayats in the district,” she said, and urged the villagers to utilise the opportunity to participate in the development of their gram panchayat.
Pamela Satpathy, stating that members of the seven committees were selected by the villagers at the gram sabha, urged them to work voluntarily for development of Vasalamarri. The members of the committees should work as ‘change-makers.’
Expressing happiness over the huge number of women attending the gram sabha, she said society in which women take the lead will achieve development on all fronts.
District Rural Development Officer Upender Reddy and village sarpanch Pogula Anjaneyulu also attended the gram sabha.
