Hyderabad: Vennampally, a village in Saidapur mandal in erstwhile Karimnagar district, has bagged the top rank under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), union Ministry of Rural Development.
The State government’s ambitious Palle Pragathi, a programme aimed at developing rural areas, has yielded good results as seven villages from the State have been ranked among the top ten villages under SAGY.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao, reacting to the achievement, tweeted: “Now this is called Real Rural Development!. Seven villages out of top 10 villages in the country under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana are from Telangana. Kudos to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s brainchild “Palle Pragathi” and my compliments to Panchayat Raj Minister E Dayakar Rao and his team.”
In reply, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister E Dayakar Rao thanked Rama Rao. Palle Pragathi programme was yielding phenomenal results and many villages are now role models to others across the country, he said.
As part of SAGY, villages are ranked based on 12 different parameters and they are awarded weightage accordingly for 100 marks.
The parameters include Gram Panchayat conducting Environment Creation activities, completing baseline survey and uploading the survey details, whether the draft Village Development Plan got clearance of Gram Sabha, number of non-infrastructure projects completed, number of economic and livelihood activities etc.
With the State government releasing funds monthly to gram panchayats, villages are taking up various developmental activities like segregation of dry and wet waste, setting up of nurseries, manufacturing vermicompost through waste.
All these measures have helped the seven villages, including Vennampally (90.25), Saidapur mandal, Kaulas (88.57), Jukkal mandal, Ganneruvaram (86.82), Bejjanki mandal, Kandakurthi (86.71), Renjal mandal, Veernapalli (86.52), Yellareddypeta mandal, Ramakrishnapur (86.06), Veenavanka mandal and Tanakurdh (85.94), Nizamabad.
