Mancherial: A seven-year-old girl, who was missing since November 24, was found dead in a well under suspicious circumstances at Nambala village in Dandepalli mandal early on Thursday.
Police said Shanigarapu Mahanvita was allegedly abducted by unknown persons while she was playing in front of her house three days ago. Her parents lodged a complaint, following which a missing case was registered on November 25, and the police formed special teams to search for her. The teams searched irrigation tanks and areas on the outskirts of the village, yet her whereabouts remained unclear till Wednesday night.
However, her parents spotted her body in a well near their house at around 6 pm. They alleged that unidentified persons murdered the child. They claimed that someone who bore a grudge against their family might have been responsible and urged the police to investigate thoroughly and take stringent action against those involved.
The police said the case would be altered to a suspicious death case and all angles would be probed.
Meanwhile, four local persons were reportedly detained and were being interrogated. The police said they were investigating the case from various angles including the enmity between parents and the suspects. Postmortem was conducted at a hospital in Luxettipet.
