Seven-year-old Nyra Bainagari solves 154 Smothered Mate chess puzzles, eyes world record

Seven-year-old chess prodigy Nyra Bainagari solved 154 Smothered Mate chess puzzles in just 29 minutes and 38 seconds, surpassing her target during a world record attempt in Hyderabad. The feat has been submitted to the World Book of Records for official recognition.

Hyderabad: Chess prodigy Nyra Bainagari has achieved an extraordinary milestone in the world of chess. At just seven years of age, Nyra set out to create history by solving 127 or more Smothered Mate chess puzzles simultaneously within 45 minutes.

For this record attempt, 160 chessboards were arranged. Surpassing the target, Nyra successfully solved an incredible 154 Smothered Mate chess puzzles in just 29 minutes and 38 seconds, setting an exceptional new benchmark.

The world record attempt was held at MMCCC (MLA MP Colony Cultural Centre), Road No 10C, MLA & MP Colony, Jubilee Hills, and was organised by Roy Chess Academy. Nyra has been receiving chess training at Roy Chess Academy, founded by Rajashekar Reddy. Telangana Minister for Forests, Konda Surekha, attended the event and congratulated Nyra, her parents, and Roy Chess Academy founder Rajashekar Reddy on this remarkable achievement.

The record attempt was officially supervised by Ujjwal Chauhan, a Certified National Chess Arbiter and FIDE Arbiter, who verified that Nyra had correctly solved each puzzle in accordance with international chess regulations. The successful record attempt will now be submitted to the World Book of Records, London, for official recognition. Upon approval, Nyra may be invited to the British Parliament in the United Kingdom to be honoured for this extraordinary achievement, a press release said.
