Hyderabad: Panic prevails at several villages in the adjoining Vikarabad district after several people complained of ill health and got admitted to hospitals. One person whose condition turned critical was shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment.

According to the health officials, several people from Nawabpet mandal and other neighbouring mandals complained of giddiness, nausea and fever and started visiting the local hospitals for treatment. The number of patients with similar symptoms increased since morning on Saturday.

“So far around 25 persons are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. More doctors and health care workers have been called to attend the patients,” said a senior health official of Vikarabad.

On information the local MLA Dr M Anand along with the health department officials is visiting the affected villages and supervising the setting up of more temporary health camps.

“Samples were collected by the health authorities to conduct various tests. Only after we get reports we will know the reason,” the legislator said.

Local reports stated the affected persons had consumed toddy supplied from Chittigidda village in Nawabpet mandal.
