Several leaders pay homage to neurosurgeon Dr. Jagadeesh on his demise in road accident
Renowned neurosurgeon Dr Kasukurthi Jagadeesh, 50, who served at Mamatha Hospital in Khammam, died after being burnt alive in a road accident near Pillalamarri in Suryapet district. Leaders, colleagues and medical professionals paid tributes and recalled his service
Khammam: Several leaders paid homage to and recalled the services of Dr Kasukurthi Jagadeesh (50), a renowned neurosurgeon who served at Mamatha Hospital in Khammam and was burnt alive in a road accident near Pillalamarri in Suryapet district on Sunday.
He was a native of Sunkuvarigunta village in Kothapatnam mandal of Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh. He is survived by his wife, Dr Sumapreeti, who serves as principal of Surabhi Medical College in Hyderabad, and two daughters.
Dr Jagadeesh would travel to Hyderabad every week or fortnight to visit his family. The accident occurred when he was travelling in his car, which he had bought two months ago, from Khammam to Hyderabad to attend one of his daughter’s birthday celebrations on Monday.
His father, Balaji, worked as a railway porter, while his mother, Sarojini, was a daily-wage labourer. Despite coming from a financially disadvantaged background, Dr Jagadeesh completed his medical education and made a mark in the field of neurosurgery across the Telugu States.
He took part in the Ganesh immersion festivities along with his colleagues and students until Saturday night, dancing enthusiastically. At around 4 am on Sunday, he attended to an emergency case and told the patient that he would perform the surgery on Monday.
Former minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar expressed deep shock and condolences over the death of Dr Jagadeesh, saying his death was an irreparable loss to him personally, Mamata Medical Institutions and the people of Khammam district.
The former minister recalled that after joining Mamatha Hospital in 2012, Dr Jagadeesh quickly became a beloved figure among the staff, students, patients and the general public. He praised the doctor’s deep empathy for patients, unwavering dedication and commitment to the medical profession.
Rajya Sabha member Vaddiraju Ravichandra, former MP Nama Nageswara Rao, CPI(ML) New Democracy leader Chittipati Venkateswarlu of Andhra Pradesh and others also extended condolences to Dr Jagadeesh’s family.
Dr Chapala Vamsi Krishna, MD of Shriram Super Speciality Hospital in Ongole, also paid tributes to Dr Jagadeesh, whom he described as the first doctor to hail from Kothapatnam mandal.
