Hyderabad: The operation and maintenance (O&M) of the sewerage system in peripheral circles of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will further be strengthened in coming days.
As a part of the exercise, 91 workers and 75 silt garbage vehicles were being procured by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB). The O&M of the sewerage system in the peripheral circles of the GHMC was taken up by the HMWS&SB from October 1.
Since then, in the city peripheries, 6,684 complaints were received and most of them have been resolved. “Among the total complaints received, 85 per cent have been resolved and by next month, 95 per cent grievances will be fixed,” said HMWS&SB in a press release.
Meanwhile, at a meeting held here on Friday, HMWS&SB Managing Director Dana Kishore said that vulnerable points have been identified. “In the city peripheries we have identified 792 hot-spots and to fix the issue of overflowing sewage in these places, an action plan is being prepared. In the coming three months, maximum number of complaints will be resolved,” he said.
The narrow pipe lines which were unable to take the load resulting in sewage overflow would be replaced with ones with higher capacity, he added.
