Khammam: The Students Federation of India (SFI) Khammam district committee demanded the State government a thorough inquiry into the serial deaths of students by suicides at IIIT, Basara (Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies)
The SFI district president P Sudhakar and its secretary T Praveen in a statement here on Tuesday said that since the beginning of the current academic year students have been dying by suicides in the institute.
But the government was not responding to the agitations being staged by the students. The government failed to provide quality food, facilities for studies and funds. The students were forced to eat whatever the food contractor cooks for them.
When Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was the leader of the opposition he jumped over the wall of the college; went inside to meet the students and said that if Congress comes to power, the problems of students would be solved, they reminded.
But Revanth Reddy failed to address the problems, the SFI leaders said while demanding him that the promises given by him should be delivered immediately. Funds should be given to develop the IIIT.
Justice should be done to the students’ families. A full-fledged vice chancellor should be appointed for the institute, they added.
