Shab-e-Barat to be observed in Hyderabad; Necessary arrangements undertaken in city
The event commemorates the Prophet Mohammed’s entry to the holy city of Mecca and Muslims around the world revere the night as an occasion of atonement
Hyderabad: Muslims in the city will observe ‘Shab-e-Barat’, the night of deliverance that falls on the 15 of the Hijri calendar month of Shabaan, on Thursday night.
The event commemorates the Prophet Mohammed’s entry to the holy city of Mecca and Muslims around the world revere the night as an occasion of atonement.
On the night, Muslims pray in preparation for Ramzan and seek forgiveness of their sins. Special prayers and sermons are held at various mosques in the city.
A huge turnout for prayers is expected at the historic Mecca Masjid, Jamia Masjid – Musheerabad, Vazir Ali Mosque – Fateh Darwaza, Jamia Masjid Jafaria – Sanathnagar, Azizia Masjid – Mehdipatnam and Jamia Masjid – Mahboob Chowk among places.
Religious meetings are planned at Milad Grounds – Khilwat, Moghalpura playground and Quli Qutb Shah Stadium, where eminent religious scholars will be addressing the gathering.
As a practice, people visit the graveyards and remembered their dear ones. The GHMC and Telangana Wakf Board have cleaned up graveyards ahead of the occasion and arrangement temporary lighting to facilitate the movement of the visitors to burial grounds. Wild vegetation and garbage was removed from these places. Senior officials of the GHMC supervised the works.
The community elders have asked the parents not allow their under aged children to drive motorcycles and cars. They appealed to the youngsters to spend more time in the mosques doing namaz or reading Quran rather than moving around on roads disturbing the peace and causing nuisance in in residential areas.
