Hyderabad: Shaik Shanawaz scored an unbeaten 102 (59b, 13×4, 5×6) while pacer V Mahesh Krishna scalped five wickets for 25 runs as Press Club defeated New Club by 47 runs to begin its campaign in style in the Secunderabad Club Inter-club T20 cricket tournament here on Sunday.
Press Club posted 191/6, thanks to Shanawaz’s unbeaten ton. VL Sashank (40 off 28b, 6×4, 1×6) and T Ravi Teja (31 off 17b, 2×4, 3×6) chipped in with useful contributions.
Later, Mahesh derailed New Club’s chase, reducing them to 46/7 inside the powerplay. N Surya Teja (78 off 41b; 8×4, 5×6) waged a lone battle but his dismissal in the 15th over ended their hopes as New Club were all out for 144 in 14.2 overs. Dasari Ramesh picked up three wickets while Ravi Teja and Sashank took one each.
