Shared Heritage and Social Media can connect Hearts across Southasia
Around 190 videos were received for the 2nd Southasian Commemoration of Doyens of Peace. Artists and youth from Bhutan, India and Pakistan used Digital Stages to showcase culture, while an eBook featuring videos and contributions from Southasians was released
Hyderabad: Around 190 videos and co-creation of videos of dances and songs by artists from Bhutan, India and Pakistan on Digital Stages were received for the 2nd Southasian Commemoration of Doyens of Peace.
The hybrid event involved the creation of videos on the theme ‘Digital Stages- Shared Heritage: Youth Connecting Southasia through Culture and Tech’, said Mazher Hussain of the Doyens of Peace South Asia.
A unique feature was the co-creation of videos using technology to bring together teams from Bhutan, India and Pakistan on Digital Stages. The programme was to commemorate the contributions of Adm. Ramdas, former Chief of Indian Navy, Karamat Ali, Labour Rights and Peace Activist from Pakistan, and Tapan Bose, a peace activist from India, for their contributions to the promotion of peace in Southasia.
Top videos of youth were live-streamed for the commemoration event and a 300-page eBook was released on the occasion, comprising videos created by youth and prominent Southasians for the event. The eBook was released by Lalita Ramdas and Rita Manchanda of India, Sheema Kermani of Pakistan, Omer Selab of Afghanistan, Maneesh Yadav of Nepal, Dema Lhamo of Bhutan and Lutfa Pathan of Bangladesh.
