Sharjah-bound aircraft with 150 onboard lands safely at Trichy after developing technical snag mid-air

Hyderabad: The passengers and the full crew of the aircraft numbering AXB613 with over 150 people onboard had a providential escape, after the Boeing 737-8HG developed a hydraulic leak. The pilots managed to land the aircraft amidst a full emergency declared in Trichy airport here on Friday.
The Sharjah-bound flight took off from the Trichy airport and soon the pilots noticed the hydraulic leak, which is stated to be crucial for operating the flaps and the landing apart from several other critical functionalities of the aircraft.
The flight with call sign VT-AYB had to encircle the Trichy airport for over 2.5 hours to burn the fuel in its tanks. Experts explained that the Boeings do not have the facility of jettisoning the fuel in such emergencies and had to encircle the airport till it burnt all the fuel, before the pilots attempted landing.
