Hyderabad: Parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor, who is also the chairman of the IT Parliamentary Standing Committee that is visiting Telangana took part in the Green India Challenge here on Wednesday. Planting a sapling at Rock Heights in Shilparamam, Tharoor urged everyone to plant trees to protect the environment.
Tharoor also expressed happiness at having the opportunity to plant a sapling as part of the Challenge, initiated by Rajya Sabha MP J. Santosh Kumar. Other members of the committee, Mahua Moitra, Syed Zafar Islam, PR Natarajan, G Ranjith Reddy, Santosh Pandey and Narendra Jadhav among others also took part in the challenge and planted saplings.
TRS MP Ranjith Reddy presented a book ‘Vriskha Vedam’ to Tharoor and the other MPs. Reddy told the Committee that inspired by the Haritha Haram initiative of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, over 16 crore saplings were planted so far under the Green India Challenge.
