Hyderabad: The Lal Bahadur Shastri Trust has come forward to set up its national level Lal Bahadur Shastri Skill Development Institute in Hyderabad.

Trust Chairman and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s son Anil Shastri, along with Telangana State Planning Board vice chairman B Vinod Kumar, met Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar in this regard here on Tuesday.

Anil Shastri said the institute will be operated in association with Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education. Apart from training students in improving their skills in different fields, the institute will also offer different courses, he said. “We find Hyderabad ideal for setting up the institute,” Anil Shastri said.

The move to set up the institute comes in the wake of the State government’s innovative development and welfare programmes, besides laying focus on education sector and promoting new inventions. “The Lal Bahadur Shastri Trust has taken the decision to set up the institute in Hyderabad after holding a series of meetings. This is a welcome decision and all support would be extended by the Telangana government to the Trust,” Vinod Kumar said.

Trust Director Shrivastava said the institute will be operated with Hyderabad as its headquarters. Welcoming the Trust’s decision to set up the institute in Hyderabad, the Chief Secretary assured that the State government would extend all assistance in establishing the institute.
