Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar inaugurates double bedroom houses at Manchukonda village in Khammam district on Tuesday.
Khammam: The double bedroom housing scheme being implemented by the State government was intended to provide comfortable shelter to the poorer sections, said Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar on Tuesday.
Stating that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao also decided to extend financial assistance for construction of houses to poor families who have land of their own, he said the government has been spending around Rs 10 lakh on the construction of each double bedroom house.
Ajay Kumar, along with the District Collector RV Karnan inaugurated 30 double bedroom houses built at a cost of Rs 1.51 crore at Manchukonda village in Raghunathapalem mandal in district. He took part in house warming ceremony of the houses of the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, he stated that it was the dream of the Chief Minister that every poor family should have a ‘dignity house’ of their own. Hence, he embarked on the implementation of double bedroom housing scheme after Telangana formation.
The construction of the houses has been going on at a brisk pace in Khammam district as nearly 2,400 houses were being constructed in Khammam Assembly constituency alone while, about 1,248 houses were being readied for inauguration at Tekulapalli, he noted.
Ajay Kumar appealed to the donors to come forward to donate land for the construction of double bedroom houses for the poor, adding that the allotment of the houses was done with utmost transparency.
Earlier on the day the Minister inspected land registration process on Dharani portal at Tahsildar office in Raghunadhapalem mandal and handed over the passbooks to land owners. The portal has made the land transactions an easy process, he said.
Ajay Kumar informed that it was planned to release about 345.48 lakh fish seed into the tanks in the district in the year 2020-21, speaking after releasing fishlings into Ooracheruv at Khanapuram. So far 242 lakh fishlings released into 659 tanks in the district.
SUDA Chairman Bachu Vijay Kumar, MLC B Laxminarayana, Market Committee Chairman M Venkata Ramana, Additional Collector N Madhusudhan Rao, Revenue Divisional Officer Ravindernath and others were present.
