Mancherial: In a first man-animal conflict in recent history of the district, a shepherd suffered minor injuries when a tiger attacked him while he was returning home from the forest on the outskirts of Oddugudem village in Vemanapalli mandal on Thursday.
Sources said Enumula Shankar, a resident of Oddugudem village, had taken his herd of sheep for grazing in the forest.

Shankar claimed that he received wounds on his shoulders when the big cat attacked him. He said he managed to escape by raising an alarm. He was rescued by some locals who later shifted him to a government hospital in Chennur where his condition was stable.
Mancherial District Forest Officer Shivani Dogra told Telangana Today that Shankar’s claims have to be verified as no tiger movement was noticed in the area where the conflict reportedly occurred. Forest officials went to the spot and are looking for evidence of the attack, she said.
