Nalgonda: Additional District Collector (Local Bodies) Rahul Sharma on Saturday said the entry of Self Help Group (SHG) women into the essential commodities market would benefit people in villages.

Inaugurating a Telangana SHG Store at Nampally in Nalgonda district, Rahul Sharma said these stores were set up by SHGs with the help of Terrisons Agro India Private Limited, a nodal agency of SERP. He reminded that stores were set up in 31 villages in Nampally mandal alone. The aim is to avoid the rural people travelling to nearby towns to purchase essential commodities. Women are being employed SHG Mithras to run the stores, he added.

District Rural Development Officer Shaker Reddy said 60 stores were set up in 11 mandals in the district. Besides SHG products, essential commodities would be sold at the stores. The stores would be set up in all villages across the district, he said.

Terrisons Agro India Private Limited Managing Director B Byri Reddy said they had been working to provide a marketing facility for products of SHG women. Through SHG stores, pulses and other agricultural products would be purchased and processed by the company. The processed goods would again be sold to villagers through these stores, he added.
