Shilpa Layout flyover service roads at Gachibowli ready to open
GHMC has completed the service roads alongside the Shilpa Layout Flyover at Gachibowli, with the lanes expected to open shortly. The project aims to improve connectivity, separate local traffic from faster-moving vehicles and ease congestion at the busy junction.
Hyderabad: In a boost to the city’s IT corridor infrastructure, the service roads flanking the Shilpa Layout Flyover (PJR Flyover Phase-2) at Gachibowli have been completed and will soon be opened to traffic, easing daily commutes for hundreds of motorists in the region.
For months, the bottleneck at the bustling Gachibowli junction, aggravated by pending land acquisitions and stormwater utility shifts, had turned peak-hour transit into a test of patience. With the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) successfully delivering these crucial, wide service lanes and integrated underpasses, the gridlock has finally dissolved.
The seamless integration of these service roads provides immediate, friction-free connectivity between Gachibowli, Kondapur, and the Financial District, allowing local traffic to move independently of the overhead flyover corridors.
IT professionals and residents heading toward the Outer Ring Road (ORR) report an instant, drastic reduction in travel times. What was once a grueling bumper-to-bumper crawl is now a brisk, streamlined drive, marking yet another milestone in Hyderabad’s evolving, world-class urban mobility network.
Built under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), the project seeks to separate local vehicles from fast-moving traffic. Officials point out that keeping neighbourhood traffic on the service lanes goes a long way in ultimately keeping the main flyover moving smoothly without traffic jams.
The municipal officials familiar with the project added that separating local vehicles from RGIA airport-bound traffic helps stop vehicles from cutting across each other, keeping vehicles moving smoothly through the area.
