Mumbai: Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty Kundra on Monday marked 31 years of her superhit film Main Khiladi Tu Anari, a movie that defined an era in the 1990s and played a pivotal role in shaping her career alongside co-star Akshay Kumar.
Taking to social media, Shilpa shared a clip of the timeless track Chura Ke Dil Mera, highlighting the enduring charm of the 1994 release. Directed by Sameer Malkan and produced by Venus World Entertainment, the action-comedy featured Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead, with Shilpa Shetty and Raageshwari as female leads.
The film cemented Akshay’s growing “Khiladi” action-hero image, while introducing Shilpa’s screen presence and dancing prowess. Its music, especially the romantic track Chura Ke Dil Mera sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik, remains iconic even three decades later.
The chemistry between Shilpa and Akshay also made headlines off-screen, with the two reportedly dating during the shoot. Their pairing became a talking point, adding to the film’s popularity.
Though their personal and professional journeys eventually moved in different directions, Main Khiladi Tu Anari gave Shilpa a strong foothold in the industry and further strengthened Akshay’s reputation as Bollywood’s “Khiladi.”
Shilpa’s anniversary post reflects how, even after three decades, the film and its music remain evergreen for audiences across generations.
