Shubman Gill to lead India in Sri Lanka Tests

India named Shubman Gill as captain for the upcoming two-Test series in Sri Lanka, starting August 15 in Galle. KL Rahul will serve as vice-captain, while fitness clearance is awaited for Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah.

Hyderabad: Shubman Gill will lead India in the away two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, according to a BCCI media release on Tuesday.

The Indian team will play a four-day practice match in Colombo from August 7.

It is also informed that Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah’s availability will be subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

Washington Sundar is not available for selection for the first Test.

The first Test will be played at Galle from August 15, the second at Colombo from August 23.
