Hyderabad: The Meerpet police arrested a woman and her brother on charges of murder on Sunday.
According to the police, S Saroja (30), a widow and her brother J Srinu (21), both tile making workers, were residents of Jillelaguda in Balapur. The victim K Redya (45), also a tile making worker from Saroornagar, was their brother-in-law and was moving closely with Saroja for the last few years.
“He often went to Saroja’s house in an inebriated condition and picked up arguments. Angered by this, Srinu had warned him against going to their house,” police said, adding that on Thursday night, Redya went to their house in a drunken condition and started creating a nuisance. The brother-sister duo allegedly attacked Redya on the head with a wooden pin roller multiple times, following which he fell unconscious.
The two then shifted him to a nearby private hospital and informed his relatives, after which he was shifted to Gandhi Hospital, where he died on Sunday. The Meerpet police booked a case of murder and arrested the two. They were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
