Hyderabad: Two siblings, including a woman, who attacked and stabbed a man to death following an altercation at their house in Ghatkesar were convicted and sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment by a local court on Monday.
Mummidi Sony (32) and her brother Duggirala Sai Prasad (34), both residents of Ghatkesar, attacked Karam Santosh Kumar (32) of Secunderabad when he went to Sony’s house to ask for money in November 2014.
“Santosh had loaned some money to Sony’s mother and went to demand it back. An argument ensued during which Santosh beat Sony. Seeing this, Sai Prasad took a stick and attacked Santosh while Sony took a knife and stabbed the victim,” Ghatkesar police said.
Santosh passed away while under treatment in January 2015. The police initially booked a case under 324 of the Indian Penal Code and later altered it to 302 (murder) of IPC. The court, while sentencing them, also imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000 on each of them.
