Siddipet: 160 kg of spurious cotton seeds seized, three arrested
Task Force police in Siddipet seized 160 kg of spurious cotton seeds and arrested three men following a raid in Bejjanki mandal. The arrests were made based on a tip-off, and the accused have been remanded to judicial custody
Siddipet: Task Force police on Sunday seized 160 kg of spurious cotton seeds and arrested three persons in Bejjanki mandal headquarters.
According to Task Force ACP Ravindar, the Agriculture Extension Officer in Bejjanki received a tip-off about the sale of spurious seeds in the village. Acting on the information, Task Force police, along with agriculture officials, raided a shop and apprehended Durgam Shankar, a native of Mancherial district. Four kilograms of spurious cotton seeds were seized from him.
Based on Shankar’s confession, the police raided a godown and seized an additional 156 kg of spurious seeds. They also arrested his associates — Inukollu Vasantha Ram Reddy from Kadapa and Kundavaram Prabhakar from Nandyala district.
The police warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found selling, storing, or supplying spurious seeds. The accused were presented before the media on Sunday and later produced in court, where they were remanded to judicial custody.
